iWeb is not included with computers that ship with Lion. If you got a Mac with an earlier Mac OS X Client version, install it from the computer's original disks.

There is plenty of info available on this topic and it is common knowledge that if you purchase a new Mac that comes pre-installed with Lion, then iWeb and iDVD are not part of it. The iLife 11 boxed set is still shown with iWeb, because it contains both iWeb and iDVD, but it is not available in the Mac App store.

Apple has withdrawn the iLife 11 boxed set from sale from the Apple store so if you want it you'll have to go to Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk, where you can still get the iLife 11 or iLife 09 boxed set, both of which contains the most up to date copy of iWeb which is 09.

If you had searched this forum first before posting, you also would have seen that there is a question exactly the same as yours one or two up and this would have given you the answer that you needed.

I just spoke with Apple Application Support and they said that iWeb '09 and iDVD have been discontinued.

For people that have purchased it on Disk or have a old copy of 10.6, it is located on the Applications Disk that comes with Mac OS X 10.6 . Apparently iDVD and can be installed from that as well. I also read that a big feature of the next version of OS X Mountain Lion, has a setting which prevents applications that are not sold from the App Store to be installed at all if you want to use that additional security feature.

This is quite surprising to me as I had been using the LAMP stack to build my sites and I was really starting to dislike it. Recently, I started doing some things with iWeb and had just fallen completely in love with the tool. I hope Apple would consider bringing it back or offering something even better in the future.

We purchased our Mac OS X 10.6. last november and the store tech at office depot did say specifically I could create websites with this computer. The computer did not come with any sort of app disks, and now that I am ready to create a few blogs and a separate website I can't because it doesn't have the iweb app. I feel cheated to say the very least, for the last three hours I have been trying to find, download, get tech support and troubleshoot iweb with no hope. What is apple doing about this sort of issues? I purchased a mac in order to get ahead in the technology field and learn about and how to do different things. Paying for a mac book pro is something we had to save $$$ for, aside from doing it on the least expensive day of the year. I'm not going to pay extra to get another app that was supposed to come with it. I'd really like to know how is apple taking accountability for this kind of issues. I feel so cheated I cried! This is beyond frustration.

I've been trying to find the iLIfe page at Apple's online store site and can't find it. Each Mac computer page lists the software included with it and iWeb nor iDVD are mentioned.

The iLife 11 web page that included iWeb and iDVD was taken down a few weeks ago and those two apps are no longer mentioned in any Apple store web page that I can find.

The only options are to install it from disks that came with another computer that included iWeb or purchase iLife 11 from Amazon.com or eBay.com. Prices have been going up as supplies dwindle.

There are many free or low cost web based applications for website creation now. See IM Creator

Yes I use iWeb and like it very much, but since it's no longer being developed, it will become obsolete as the web evolves. I have an older version and I still consider buying a later one on Amazon, but will weigh my options going forwad.

Don't feel cheated. They were correct, you can produce websites. The application was not included. I'd take it up with the person who sold you the computer. Office Depot. I didn't know they sold Macs. What would they know?
