It only works with a Windows PC, Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 or later.
Cheers, Tom 😉
Sorry, that's not correct. Apple provides drivers for the LaserJet 4 with Mac OS X 10.4; some are Gimp-Print and some are from HP. All you need to do is select the correct one when you setup your printer. Here's the list:
Mac OS X 10.4: Included printer drivers and PostScript PPD files...
HP LaserJet 4 series - Gimp-Print5.0.0-beta2Gimp-PrintX

OS 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) are also compatible -- if you download the Gutenprint (ver. 5.2.7) driver for Mac. See my review posted on the CNET website last March.
Are you saying the Gutenprint (ver 5.2.7) driver will allow a LaserJet 4m to function on an iMac running OS 10.6.8?
Hi dchapple99
You're way out in left field replying to this two year old question regarding an older OS X operating system.
I don't believe OS X has ever supported the HP LaserJet 4M. Other 4 variants yes, but the 4M is one of the few that is not supported in recent OS X versions.
You ought to start a new Discussion with that topic, in the correct area. I suggest Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard.
