Firefox wont open, because of multiple copies? !

I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. Now when i open the new firefox i get an error message:

⚠"Close Firefox.

A copy of firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."

Ive uninstalled again, empied the trash, searched the computer for traces (at least thats what i think i did) and nothing works help!

Launch Activity Monitor from your Applications folder, hit "End Process" for every instance of Firefox you see listed.

Its not on there. at least not in a form that i would recognize, theres lots of stuff on there that doesnt look familiar maybe its one of those
