Purchased the camera connection kit, does not show any sign of life neither usb nor card ...

Any error message?

Have you tried connecting camera to it?

Have you tried reading from SD card?

A few other posters have reported the same problem. Some were defective. Take it, along with you iPad & cable to an Apple Strore.
