I figured this out on my own, but now have forgotten how I did it: I was able to highlight a note and then duplicate it so that when I then moved it up to a different pitch the original note was still there. I was able to build a chord off of one note by doing this duplication on the note and then moving it to the desired pitch. How did I do that? Thanks!

Nice: Thanks. Before you answered I had rediscovered that I had been clicking on the note with command down and then using the up or down arrow which would pull the new note up away from the old. Your way is faster though. Thanks HangTime
