I'm trying to set my desktop picture to a solid color. Using the 20" monitor as a Secondary Display via the Mini Display to DVI adaptor.
I select the color from System Preferences but nothing happens.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
Are you doing this from the "Secondary Desktop" panel of the Desktop & Screen Saver system preferences? If you are clicking on them should have an immediate effect? You saying it doesn't?
You could try removing com.apple.desktop.plist in you Preferences folder and see if that fixes anything. You will of course ned to reset the desktop preferences to get that plist to your desired settings.

I don't have that file in my preferences folder.
Could've tossed it when my screen would freeze up when it fell asleep.
Is there a way to fix this?
Perhaps this is also why my iChat isn't working?
There is a blank message window when I open it.
Just to be clear. YOu don't have the "Desktop & Screen Saver" system preferences?
