So simple, thanks Owen. Here's another one for you......is it possible for someone who is totally non-technical to install additional memory in my iMac? If so, where could I obtain instructions.

Figure out your iMac version and then see this Apple article for instructions:
It's quite easy to do for most current iMacs.
Not really an answer, Allan Jones has given you that, but I added memory to my iMac, much the same as yours. If it gives you confidence I can assure you it was easy.
