iPhone 4s back glass broken cracks repair??

i got my new iphone 4s back on 12 decemeber and now yesterday my small brother was having and he dropped it and the back glass got cracks! i took it to apple service centre here in new delhi india at ansal plaza and they told me they will dont repair it and get whole new body for 12000 INR or 244.56$ . its really annoying to spend so much for a crack? its silly infact why dont they replace the back cover glass? many customers have got it replaced as i went through the forum and saw many topics for it! i need your support and help what to do in such case ! please have a look through this matter seriously.

You could always buy a new backplate for the device and fit it yourself. All that the job intails is to undo the two screws on the bottom of the iPhone and slide the back up and off.

Search around for replacement backplates and also maybe watch some videos of removing the back to see if you are comfortable enough to do it yourself.

The cost of the back would be alot less than the quote that the service centre gave you.

I have the same problem, except that I live in Singapore. I was also offered replacement for the whole phone for S$350 instead of fixing the back glass. As you suggested, I'll also like to go for buying a new back glass. Sorry I am not even sure if you meant back glass by back cover. If yes could you also please suggest where could I buy a legit one.
