Will Apple replace an iPod Nano 2nd gen that white screened still?

I do computer work on and off and for payment at one of my recent jobs I recieved an iPod Nano 2nd gen that I was told had only been out of it's case for about 30 minutes total prior to me recieving it. The day after I got it, the iPod whitscreened. Now, it isn't impossible to play music, but that's it. I cannot access the clock or date time function, and for someone that cannot afford a cell phone the schedual feature would be really nice. I understand that with it being a 2nd gen product that it is aged by now, but I am wondering if Apple might still replace or repair it with that and me being a second hand owner, or if there might be a method to fix it that I could do. The only method I know of stopped working after the 4th restore.

iPod nano, Windows XP
