Mac App Store - Offline installation

Hi,

I've purchased some apps from the Mac App Store. Now I have a second Mac that has no internet connection and I'm not going to give it one because for safety reasons. But that seems to be a problem regarding the Apps I purchased.

If I copy the apps to this other computer and try to start it, nothing happens.

How can I activate those Apps on my "offline computer"?

Best regards,

Christian

What version of Mac OS X is on the other computer. Apps require a minimum of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and some require higher versions

It should be possible to transfer software I paid for to another Mac without forcing me to establish a internet connection, shouldn't it?

Christian...

Yes. You can backup your purchases to an external hard drive or a thumb drive then install on the other Mac without the need for an internet connection.

Thanks for your answer!

But the problem is: I did exactly that. I copied it to an external drive from the first Mac and then transfered it to my second machine. Put the App in the application folder and tried to start the app. But nothing happens. Neither does it start, nor does it prompt a dialog asking for my Apple ID (which indeed wouldn't make sense, since this Mac does not have an internet connection!)

I have the same problem. If I backup an app and then restore it to the same Mac, it can run. However, I I backup an app and then restore it to other Mac, it will not run (double click but nothing happens). I did try with several Macs.

I'd like to have offline installers of some apps from App Store in order to avoid compatibility problems of future app updates or the case when apps move from free to paid.
