Somehow locked my option key?

I don't think I've ever been so annoyed in my life. I must have typed some magical shortcut and locked my option key. I couldn't do anything. Does anyone know what happened, so that I can go through my life NEVER doing that ever again?!

Typing resulted in: †πˆ˜© ®´ß¨¬†´´, but my mouse worked. So I could get to the Safari browser, but I couldn't type in my question. I took a huge gamble and logged out (with my mouse) hoping against hope it would reset the keyboard and I could type my password to get back in.

But I lost a lot of work because of this joke Mac snuck into their system. I want to know what happened. Thanks.

Whew, strange one, but if it happens again look in System Preferences>International & see if Input has been changed, look in Universal Access>Keyboard & see if Sticky keys or Slow keys is enabled.

Can't think of much else it could be, but might try unplugging the KB & plugging it back in... whoops, it's a Laptop, check if the Battery might be bulging & torquing the KB. 🙂
