    Hi Guys,

    Roane State is also experiencing the same issue.  When working in a Collection, we are getting the Timed Out error when trying to Return to the Collections Manager.

    I created a New Collection for a faculty member who is brand new to iTunes U, she has uploaded her mp3 and I can see it sitting within the new Collection but it is listing 0 (zero) tracks when I return the full Collections list.  We kept encountering the Timed Out issue but I'm wondering if that is tied to why her collection isn't showing any content.

    Thanks!

    Greetings Nichole;

    The "timed out" issue is indeed tied to the content in your new collections not showing up.  Here's the solution that I discovered.  Hopefully I will work for you also.

    The address that I've been using to access the PSM site is as follows:

    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/DZStudio.woa/wa/SignIn

    When signing in with that URL, I consistently got the "session has timed out" message when trying to return to the Collection Manager.

    This morning, I tried accessing our site using my iPad2 and was able to edit our new collections with no errors or issues.  It was then that I noticed that the URL on my iPad was different from the one listed above.

    The NEW URL is as follows:

    https://sitemanager.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/DZStudio.woa/wa/SignIn

    When I use this URL (I've been working in PSM on and off for about three hours now), the PSM site functions normally with no errors.  I've forwarded my findings to Apple.  I'm not an engineer, so I have no idea why this worked for me but it did!

    I hope this works for you also.  All the best...

    Wow, Syd, you're AMAZING! It works for us at Wellesley too.

    Which is wonderful, since your earlier workaround had oddly stopped working for me this afternoon. But this seems to work great so far (knock on wood).

    Thanks so much for sharing your solution with the rest of us!

    Megan;

    Thanks for the response!  I'm thrilled that it worked for you also!  I've been adding content to a new collection for the last couple of hours (logging in and out of PSM) so far with no issues.  All the best to you...

    SUNY-ESF here. Same issue -- fast timed out followed by the currently being edited message.

    BUT, I seem to have had the opposite result as Syd and mcunniff. The URL I have been using and have bookmarked is:

    https://sitemanager.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/DZStudio.woa/wa/SignIn

    I signed out and switched to the shorter one to log in again:

    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/DZStudio.woa/wa/SignIn

    I was then able to get right to the item I was locked out of.

    BUT, when I tried to replicate this and real nail things down, the original issue seemed to vanish with both logins. Instead I hit the following error a couple of times back linking to the collection manager:

    Your request produced an error.

    [newNullResponse]

    I'm going to wait a bit and try both logins with new videos to see if anything comes clear. Still, I'd be surprised if the timeout/being-edited problem turns out to be related to the login URL.

    Cheers

    Greetings Paul;

    Thanks for the update.  As I mentioned in my earlier post, I don't know why this worked for me (and for others), but our site continues to perform as expected this morning.

    A little more background: When I tried the new URL for the first time, it took me directly to the "You session has timed out..." message. But after I logged in for the first time, the site began behaving normally and has continued to do so.

    All the best to you...

    Thanks for the advice Syd!  I was able to go in and view our new faculty member's content, her newly uploaded mp3.  I just used the back button (didn't want to risk being timed out again) and Voila!, the number of items in the course was listed.  I have been able to successfully Publish her Collection.

    Thanks for your prompt response.  You've been helpful as always!

    Best,

    Nichole

    Has anyone at Apple (Duncan????) officially endorsed Syd's workaround as the best immediate term strategy while they continue to fix the old https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/DZStudio.woa/wa/SignIn URL?

    Thanks.

    Greetings Kenny;

    I've had no direct feedback from Apple about my experience and the solution that I came up with.  As I've said, I'm not an engineer so I have no idea why the "work around" worked.  But using the "new" log in, our site has continued to function normally.  I've added collections and made revisions daily.

    Are the issues still continuing for you?  All the best...

    I am also having issues - I can't publish any of my changes to the college account I manage. I receive this error:

    "An error has occurred during the publishing of your content."

    Any idea why this happens?

    Kennesaw State University is also experiencing the same issue. When working in a Collection I am getting a timed out error or "Sorry, this page is being edited" error. Unfortunately, the work around did not work for me. I will try again tomorrow, though...

    ...next day experience. I was uploading a file and got timed out! Now I cant log in again - am getting "Sorry, this page is currently being edited" message.

    Greetings Kennesaw State;

    Are you still having issues with the "...currently being edited..." issue?   Have you tried logging in to your site using and iOS device?  I discovered what became my "work around" by logging in to our site using my iPad.  I noticed that in so doing, I could edit the site as expeceted with no errors.  I was then that I noticed that the URL address that the iPad Safari application was using was different from what I was using on my desktop computers (see attached).

    https://sitemanager.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/DZStudio.woa/wa/SignIn

    When I tried the new URL, I was able to log in and edit as expected.  Since then, I have not experienced any odd behavior or error messages.

    I've also installed the newest Safari update (Version 5.1.4) and the site behaves as expected.  I wish you the best with you site...

    Greetings Syd Rodocker,

    Thank you for your help (and your postings have helped me before). I think the new login URL should work. The iTunes U team emailed me back and also recommended using the new URL address. I noticed that if I use the old URL, there is now a redirect. I had tried the new link before - but was still getting "kicked off" - but I bet it will work now that everyone is aware of the problem.

    Thanks!

    Also, just in case it makes a difference to anyone, the iTunes U team asked me to log into:

    http://sitemanager.itunes.apple.com

    which takes me to:

    https://sitemanager.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/DZStudio.woa/wa/SignIn

    which is the link Syd has posted.

    Just FYI,

    Patti
