Odd Behavior in Public Site Manager

Greetings All;

Is anyone else experiencing unusual behavior in Public Site Manager? Specifically, after I created a new Collection and

began to add content, I began to get a "Sorry, this page is currently being edited. Please try again later." message.

Also, my session seems to "time out" almost immediately.

I'm experiencing similar behavior today; adding an item to an existing collection seemed to go smoothly, but it didn't show up in iTunes U, and when I returned to the site manager to check it out I got the same "currently being edited" error as shown above. After logging out and waiting about an hour, I tried again - I could then access the collection and it showed the new item, but it timed me out nearly immediately before I could sign out properly, and the "currently being edited" error shows up again. And the item is still not available in iTunes U. (Generally it won't show up in iTunes U, I've noticed, if one doesn't sign out of the manager properly - but that's hard to do if it times out within a minute and locks you out for 20 minutes after!)

Would be interested to know if this is happening for anyone else.

Greetings;

Thanks for the response. I still experiencing the same bahvior on our site. Yesterday, I had created a new collection and uploaded four video files and three PDF files. When it came time to publish the collection, I got a message that there was no content in the collection.

Today, after trying to edit the collection and receiving the "currently being edited" message I finally deleated the collection and started over. The process worked as expected and I was able to publish the new collection without a hitch.

I just tried to access the collection to add an additional PDF and got the "currently being edited" message again. When I select "Return to Collections Manager" I'm sent out of PSM with the "Your session timed out. Please sign in again." message.

FYI for anyone else experiencing this issue, I've tried accessing PSM from machines running both "Lions" and "Snow Leopard" with the same results.

Greetings All;

The PSM "...currently being edited" problem continues today. I logged in on one of the computers in my edit bay to preview a collection that is "in progress" to view what clips had been uploaded to date. When I selected the "Return to Collection Manager" link, I was immediately sent out of the PSM application with the "Your session has timed out..." message. I was logged in to the PSM application for less than thirty seconds.

I'm now locked out of editing that collection with the "...currently being edited" message.

Hi Duncan - I work with about six collections in Wellesley College's iTunes U site. Is there any specific information that might help you?

Late last afternoon around 2-3, I was able to publish my item (essentially by going to the item which was already visible in the collection and resaving it/signing out very quickly before the timeout had a chance to get me.) After that, I had noticed that the timeouts were no longer occuring as quickly, but the next time I logged in I got an odd error when I clicked the "return to collections manager" link. Unfortunately I did not think to copy the error, though it was a white page and looked like some sort of script error.

However, when I went back to take a screenshot of it today, everything looks fine as far as I can see. No unnaturally quick timeouts or links throwing errors. (I do still get the "sorry, currently being edited" if I close the browser on a collection without properly signing out, but as far as I'm aware that is normal.)

I will try to find some new content to upload and report back if there are any problems with that. But for now it looks like we're fine here.

Best of luck with your own, Syd.

Greetings & Thanks for the response!

I can now edit my Collection normally. Duncan, the issue for me seems to arise when I use the "Return to Collections Manager" link. I'm immediately sent out of the PSM application with "...session timed out" message, and then locked out of the collection that I was working on. I've never had this happen before.

My "work around" is to "arrow" back to the Collection Manager. I can then work as I always have.

Duncan;

The issue continues for me this morning. I can consistently replicate the behavior. When I'm previewing or adding to a Collection, if I select the "Return To Collection Manager" link in PSM, I'm immediately logged out of PSM and get the "Your session has timed out. Please log in again." message.

When I log back in, I'm then locked out of the Collection that I was working on and receive the "...currently being edited" message. After a couple of hours, I can access the collection again.

I'm still having this issue - when trying to add several audio files to a newly created collection, the site manager timed out as soon as I hit "return to site manager" and then locked me out. When I returned in an hour, I was able to reaccess the items to resave them, but then when I hit the return link I received a white page with the error "Your request produced an error. [newNullResponse]" This has happened multiple times. Sometimes it has locked me out with the "someone is currently editing this collection" error afterwards and sometimes it doesn't seem to.

Greetings;

Sorry to hear that the issue is still affecting your site also. The "Return to Collections Manager" link seems to be the key that triggers the issue for me. If I edit or add to a collection and then select the "Return to..." link, every time I'm ejected from Site Manager with the "...session has timed out" message and I'm then locked out of the collection that I was editing.

If I use the arrow back key, to return to Collection Manager, the site consistently works as expected. Hopefully this work-around will work for you also. All the best...

Duncan;

Thanks for following up. The problem is still ongoing for me as of this hour. I'm also experiencing a problem adding new collections (link attached).

Hi Guys,

Roane State is also experiencing the same issue. When working in a Collection, we are getting the Timed Out error when trying to Return to the Collections Manager.

I created a New Collection for a faculty member who is brand new to iTunes U, she has uploaded her mp3 and I can see it sitting within the new Collection but it is listing 0 (zero) tracks when I return the full Collections list. We kept encountering the Timed Out issue but I'm wondering if that is tied to why her collection isn't showing any content.

Thanks!
