Feb 21, 2012 5:05 PM in response to MVFollowupby old comm guy,What is your Wireless Security setting on the network? Since you are running Leopard, I may not have the desired answer, but some of the Airport-equipped laptops, like the TiBooks, are said not to support all of the settings. I have an AE network which supports b and g, with "WPA2 Personal" settings and the TiBooks connect with that one OK with 811.b Airport.
Oh, and no way to upgrade beyond 10.5.8 Leopard for PPC machines like the Titanium G4 Powerbooks, as 10.6 and above require Intel processors.
EDIT: I didn't notice this, but the TiBooks may be connecting with WPA encryption on my network, as I have the following display on my settings:

Feb 22, 2012 12:15 PM in response to old comm guyby MVFollowup,1. Sorry, I’m a real dummy. Could you put your first statement into simple English?
2. As far as upgrading to OS 10.6, I was pretty sure that you couldn't, but I had seen an Apple web page dealing with the G4 PowerBook that sounded like you could upgrade to "Lion" if you upgraded to “Snow Leopard” first. That surely didn’t sound right, but I thought I’d ask.

Feb 22, 2012 4:20 PM in response to MVFollowupby Ingmar Hemsen,I'm not sure if this helps you, but the Apple WiFi card could only connect to 811b networks (max 11 Mb/s). If you have higher (exclusive) speed setting (811g or n) on the base station, the TiBook won't be able to connect. (Assuming you have an original internal Apple WiFi card in that TiBook).
Also have a look at this help for connecting to networks: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1126

Apr 21, 2012 1:25 PM in response to MVFollowupby cotton770,i don't know if this is the same issue, but my iBook G4 stopped connecting to the internet when i got a new router. i couldn't find the 811b setting for it, so i searched for other things that could fix it. turns out all i needed to do was change it from WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK to just WPA2-PSK(AES) on the router. then went into my preferred networks through airport settings and changed it from WPA personal to WPA2 personal and entered the new password and it works fine now.
