My MacBook Pro won't type.

So I have a MacBook pro that was probably bought about 4 or 5 years ago. And lately it's been having a problem where I would close it, and when I come back the keyboard and mouse won't work. So the only think I can do is hold the power button down and restart it. And today it's been freezing while I was typing something. And so I shut it, opened it. Didn't work. I restarted it. Didn't work. I turned it off. Then waited about 10 minutes and turned it back on. It STILL doesn't work. I'm really scared because inwas goin to back it up but haven't ha the chance to yet. An now i can't even log in! How and I supposed to get everything from my laptop? And how do I fix this? Please help!
