HOW TO DOWNGRADE FIRMWARE ON IPOD VIDEO!

These are the directions only for the Video iPod.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y44N4BER - Updater for Windows From MegaUpload

http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Drivers/Apple-iPod-Updater-2005-11-17.shtml - Updater for Mac From Softpedia

1. Your iPod needs to be in disk mode (look in iTunes Preferences, under iPod tab) and you need to have your computer set to View Hidden files.

Now navigate to My Computer and open your iPod navigate to iPod_Control\Device
Open SysInfo with Notepad.

Find and change
buildID: 0x06108000
to
buildID: 0x05908000

2. This will trick the iPod Updater into thinking you have an old firmware.
Install the 2005-11-17 Updater. Next, when it is finished installing, restart your comptuer. After the reboot, run the program that you just installed. When it loads, click "Update". Once the program says the update is complete, your iPod has been downgraded.

Everything is working just as you said except I can't install the file from softpedia.com. It shows up on my desktop as a .dmg file and nothing I have can open it.

I tried downloading the same file from Megadownload but all I see are the specs of the file (name, file type, size) but no place to click "download file"...

any suggestions..?

Thanks

YES - it worked. I had the problem (in version 1.1) when watching a video and 30 seconds in it would pause/freeze for a couple of seconds then start playing again but with no sound. I was able to rewind/fast forward and the sound would come back, then after another 30 seconds it would do the same again.

I did what gibran 1984 said, but I had updater version 2005-10-12 and had to uninstall it - reinstall it - reboot (now back to version 1.0) and now i can watch full length films without any problems.

Waaayyyhaaaayy.

Oh and I forgot to mention that no content from the ipod was lost as stated.
