Q: move sms from iPhone to mac and then back to another iPhone

Hi,

I just got tansee (free trial) and transferred my SMS's to my mac from an iphone 4

Does the program have an option to transfer files FROM Mac back to another Iphone?

See i need to get my sms's from my old iphone 4 to my new 4s.

I can not restore from back up cos i did that initially and battery was dying out so the guys at apple store asked me to set it up as new (which fixed battery issue) and get my data (calenders, contacts, phontos, notes) via the cloud. I got everything back except my Messages and i really need them

I already tried touchcopy and phoneview but to no avail.

Thanks for everyone's help.

    No worries JaysenM

Look, i tried everything under the sun but i found that the best option was to get the Tansee Iphone Transfer SMS program and that extracts and saves your messages in the same format (green bubbles) as it appears on the phone - but who wants their private texts on the computer right? -

Unfortunately the program does not let you put those extracted texts into another phone.

Your best bet is to restore from backup (which i could not do initially due to a problem with my 4s battery)

Anyways, long story short, i was very unlucky when upgrading from iphone4 to 4s:

I had the battery problem so apple store asked me NOT to restore from backup and i lost my text messages

Then i had the Invalid Sim issue so they replaced my 4s with a newer 4s.

Now when i got the newer 4s i took a chance and attempted to restore from my old iphone 4 - therefore i kept my old private important text messages! and my battery life was fine!

I do not suggest playing around with the backup files copying strings of data or pasting or any of that as it may corupt the backup file - it did not work for me and i just gave up.

So restore from backup is the only option now unless you would like to save them on your computer use the Tansee program - until then, you can always post a feedback on the apple site asking them to offer Messages as one of the options we can tick off to backup in iCloud along with calendar, contacts, music, etc...

anyways good luck - hope this helps

Hi, I'm the developer of an iPhone app called 'iPhone SMS to Mac Transfer' that let's you transfer SMS from your iPhone to your computer and vice versa over wifi. The SMS are transferred in full resolution and you only need a web browser in your computer, no cables and no iTunes required.

I hope you can check it out and find it useful:

Of course you can move SMS between iPhone and Mac, and it is workable from one iPhone to another as well. Try to realize the task with a third party program is a good chioce. With it, you have no need to transfer SMS from one iPhone to Mac and then back to another iPhone. You can transfer SMS from one iPhone to another directly. Besides, you can move other data like music, contacts, pictures, audios, and videos from iPhone to Mac/another iPhone.

If there are still some problem you can't figure it out, you may go for http://www.apple.com/feedback
