I concur with Carolyn. I had the same issue, and resetting my Apple ID pw resolved it.
I am wondering if they have revised the password protocol. My previous password did not meet the minimum requirements.

Now I understand why the original password may not have worked, because when I tried to enter it again as the "change to" password, it would not allow me stating that it had been used previously. Problem fixed, thanks folks!
