i've been trying to download iBooks Author from the app store. when I click on the install button, it gives me back this error message:
"impossible to complete the purchasing; impossible to verify the release of article, because it could be damaged or not signed"
is this a known problem?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
Not sure it is releated, but did you acknowledge the agreement on the right first?
when I agree the licence terms of use, and then click on the install button, it tries to install it, that kind of wheel keeps turning on but nothing really happens...

already done, but nothing changed...I think there's a problem with the app downloading
My responses are very simplistic this morning, but it may be a weak wi-fi connection.
I'm sure with another cup of coffe this will be solved.

Log on to another account on that computer and try again from there to see if perhaps an issue is related to your usual user account.
I think, tho, that the issue is with your network....is that computer on a wired or wireless connection? Do you have another internet connection you can try at a friend's...?
i have just tried to log in the apple store with a different account but anithing changed. i don't think the problem is my connection because i managed to download many other apps without any problem...
such a mistery...😕
In the App Store, go to Purchases (top menu) and see if iBooks Author is paused. Click on "Resume" to download the App.

Check the hardware/software specs of your system versus the minimum requirements of Author?
I have just checked my hardware/software system's specs, as you suggested, and they're ok. I think I can't install the program because I didn't install keynote and ibooks2 before

That is not important. Keynote is irrelevant and iBooks cannot be installed on OS X.
Having the same issue on my new MBP-Retina running 10.8.1. I've gone through all of the steps listed above but still recieve the following message: "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
This is the solution, and it's Not from apple support...
Start in safe mode (press shift in start) and logout from AppStore.
Restart in normal way.
Retry to download the app.
Done!
