I had the cable/internet provider replace my old modem with a new one. I had to reset the router manually to reconfigure wi-fi settings. I now have only my main wireless network and no guest network. It is possible that your service provider replaced your old modem with a gateway device.....a combination modem/router in one box.....which would not allow the AirPort Extreme to enable the Guest Network feature.

Can you post back with the make and model number of your "modem" so we can explore further?

Yes, it is a Netgear and the # is MAC:204E7F1115BA. I didn't even think of that. That is going to suck.

This appears to be the MAC address of the device.  We need the model number of the device. Might be on the back or bottom of the Netgear.

Or, it might be quicker to just look at the back panel. If it has 3-4 Ethernet ports....you have a gateway device.
