DEAD CMOS??

Hi. I've been in England for 18 months and my MacPro has been sitting! It hasn't been started since I left. IF if doesn't start when I boot it next week could it be a dead CMOS battery? If so, how do I change the battery and bring my Mac back to normal? Any help will be greatly apprecaited.

Thanks

Not completely sure but if the battery is dead as long as the computer is plugged in to AC it should boot. ,The CMOS battery really only keeps the clock running. Worst thing that can happen is the date will be something like 1991 or something really strange.

Depending on how old the system is the battery may recharge once you plug it into the AC.

Don't know exactly where that battery is located, specifically. But it is on the motherboard and fairly visible.
