Device manager and Postgresql error message loop

Hello,

I'm on MBP 7,1, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB DDR3 Ram, 500GB hard drive with Lion. After the v10.7.3 update, the console has been putting a looping error message regarding Device manager and PostGre SQL (below). Can anyone help?

I've just bitten the bullet, saved all my apps, docs and data onto a couple of external drives, reformatted the system disk, then re-installed Lion from the recovery partition...all back and working again!! :-)

I think my initial install of Server didn't work...can't remember the errors but I'm pretty certain there were a few.

On the plus side, you can just drag apps back into the Applications folder and Lion picks them up - no need for the original .dmg or disks.

If this was another time, I would have reinstall the OS before I hit the community boards. But so far, besides the looping error on console, it hasn't caused any external or internal problems. All my office apps works fine. Even with the full install of the last released SP the looped error is still there so I'm just going to shut down this thread and leave the server app well alone. Thanks for your help.

I just did a clean install of Lion, and then did the Server install from the app store... and my /var/pgsql folder is completely empty. Seems to me this loop is caused by exactly what console says, a missing postgres config file.

Does anyone have a copy of

/var/pgsql/postgresql.conf
they can post here? Are there any other files in /var/pgsql by default?

Same problem here .. /var/pgsql folder is empty.

Installed Server on my MBP specifically to get the Wiki and I've been going through a lot of pain trying to get back to a clean working state on Apache. And of course, Wiki won't work without Postgres ... grrrrr ...

I'm tempted to pick up a generic postgresql.conf, but I'm sure Apple has "tuned" it with some OSX specific settings.

Be curious if anyone's found a solution

In case anyone else comes here looking for a solution, and the above doesn't work for them. I was trying to resolve the repeated instances of this in my log file, plus the effects of not having postgres running. I'm on OS X Lion Server, 10.7.5, on an XServe.

org.postgresql.postgres[18789]: postgres_real cannot access the server configuration file "/var/pgsql/postgresql.conf": No such file or directory

com.apple.launchd[1] (org.postgresql.postgres[18789]): Exited with code: 2

com.apple.launchd[1] (org.postgresql.postgres): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

I ran these commands:

sudo chmod 777 /var

sudo mv /var/pgsql /var/pgsql.OLD

sudo -u _postgres /usr/bin/pg_ctl initdb -D /var/pgsql

sudo chmod 755 /var

This initialized the postgres setup and everything seems to be running happily now.
