Apple Loops Utility "missing" with Logic 9

I downloaded Logic 9 Pro and MainStage from the App store last month, and it's only now that I find myself advanced enough to be delving into the world of creating Apple loops and playing with Flex Time. But, lo and behold, when I went to select the Aplle Loops Utility from the Arrange Window's toolbar, it was nowhere to be found. Tech support said this was due to a bad install, so I trashed Logic, restarted, and downloaded the whole app again. Same deal: no Apple Loops Utility. This is maddening. I really wish I had discs, or I at least wish the Utility was available somewhere for download on its own, like a driver. Anyone got any advice? I don't know how much more time I want to waste re-installing Logic before I just give up and buy ProTools, which is now pretty cheap, too.

Are you saying you want to use the Apple Loops? You've got to download them first, they don't automatically come with the Logic Pro 9 & Mainstage 2 downloads because they're HUGE. At least 19GB, if I remember right. I got the Logic Studio bundle about two months before they made it an App Store-only purchase, so I don't know exactly how you go about downloading those, but I do know it's an in-app download within Logic Pro.

SAME **** PROBLEm...NO, we're not talking about using EXISTING Loops..the Drop down in Audio when you have a region selected is supposed to give you the option to open in APPLE LOOPs UTILITY-..it's simply NON existant now...when it was before..i upgraded a month ago...What da FUG People..Address the situation..everyone's simple answer for Everything seems to be...re-load from the disk...YOU guys made Logic avialable as a downlad..so DAmnit take reponsibility and address issues for newbies to the program that ONLY have the downloaded versions of the software..

Sorry to hear that folks!

I run today Logic 9.1.7 (upgraded from Logic 8 Studio, etc... discs versions) and the "Open in Apple Loop Utility..." does show in the Arrange / Audio menu.

I wonder if you need to have the Apple Loop Utility app installed in order to have that menu item showing in Logic/Arrange/Audio menu?

Originally when I purchased Logic Studio 8 (boxed), there were other versions of Logic available back then; for instance Logic 8 and Logic 8 Express.

But back then, Mainstage, Apple Loop Utility, WaveBurner, SoundTrackPro 2, Impulse Response Utility, Logic Node and Compressor were only included (and available) in the Studio version...

Hello All,

If anyone is still having issues with Apple Loop Utility missing I may have a solution for you. If you downloaded Logic Pro 9 from the App store the Loops won't come preinstalled. In order to add the files you want you must click on the Logic Pro menu button in the top left, next to the Apple logo, then click on "Download Additional Content" and that should allow you to download all the available content. If you want to download all of the files, keep in mind its about 19.8 GB.

Yep. I have just about had it with Apple. I was a convert about 8 years ago and over the years have spent a fortune on software and hardware. But - why can't they just leave things alone?!! (Of course - it's money!)

Yes - where are the loops? And why are they not where they always were in Logic? Bloody ridiculous!!

I, like yourself have spent huge amount of hours trying to solve the problem of where they have disappeared to....
