Quartz Debug settings not saved

I wanted to try the HiDPI resolution option out of curiousity. So I installed Xcode 4 from the app store, then proceeded to install Quartz Debug.
Now, I found the option to enable HiDPI. But when I log out and back in there are no HiDPI resolutions available and the setting is not checked in Quartz Debug anymore.

Anyone have an explanation for this or even better a solution? I looked around but can't find a solution or explanation anywhere.

Note: All the software is up to date including Lion.
