iphone 4s "sim failure" then "invalid sim" frequently

Hi,

I purchased my Iphone 4s nov/2011 and in the last 3-4 weeks i am facing frequent errors of "SIM FAILURE" then it goes to "INVALID SIM".

i must turn off the on my phone each time it appears.

sometimes the intervals between errors is few minutes and sometimes it can take up to 3-4 hours.

i replaced my sim card twice at the network provider but the errors remain.

i switched with another ihopne the sime card - the error appears on my phone again and on the other phone the sim works good.

checked the settings but couldnt find and diferences with my son's iphone(which we bought the same day at the same store).

any one with any information will be appreciated.

Hi, firstly make sure you have the updated firm version. The current version is the 5.0.1 9A406.

If not, then update the same through iTunes, also make sure you are running the latest iTunes version.

Current version of iTunes is 10.5.3.3

Prior to the firmware version, many people had encountered the frequent sim failure problems, including myself.

But, now it's almost completely stopped. Hope this helps you too. Thanks!

I am experiencing this same frustrating issues with the IPhone 4S factory unlock. The IPhone software is up to date Version 5.0.1 (9A405). ITunes version 10.5.3.3 I have even purchased new SIM Card put in it the phone but no luck same issue. I have tried various SIM Card from various phone providers such as; ATT, T-Mobile in the USA, Lebara in the Netherlands, UTS and TellCell in the Caribbean and all give me the same “SIM Failure”. Every time I get the error message I have to turn off the phone and turn it back on.

Any suggestions, this issue is really frustrating.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi i got the same problem that you have, the last thing that i did was going to my carrier here in Mexico and they change my iphone because, this was their diagnostic " the phone did not work properly", so if you still have warranty go to change it for another one, it has been a month since i did that and i am not having any problem.

Thanks for the feedback. About two and half hours ago I upgraded the iPhone 4S Version 5.0.1 (9A405) to Version 5.0.1 (9A406). I have downloaded the iOS Version 5.0.1 (9A406) manually and run it, after that I did the restore in iTunes and it installed the new iOS on the IPhone. Two and half hours pass and it still working well with no error popping up of “SIM Failure”. Prior to this update the error massage was popping up very frequently with in an hour. I will continue to monitor it and see if the issue persist. I will keep everyone posted maybe this could be the solution.

Cheers
