10.6 wont mount SD card.

When I plug in my camera with a USB cable to transfer pictures, 10.6 wont mount the SD card, and thus the card will not show in finder. If I open system profiler, and look at the USB tab under hardware, the camera does show in the list however. How can I get the card to show in finder?
