PowerPC 970fx. It is not an Intel processor.
Kappy, I got your reply. I have a Power PC with this config and I installed 10.6.8 without any problems:
Model Name: Power Mac G5
Model Identifier: PowerMac7,2
Processor Name: PowerPC 970 (2.2)
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 2
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 6 GB
Bus Speed: 1 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.0.7f0
Serial Number (system): XB3450N3NVS
Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-000A95A891AA
Why was I able to install snow leopard on it?
Sorry, I made a huge mistake. I do not have snow leopard. Sorry, my eyes are playing tricks on me. :-)
Hi Tanmara, the G5 you have isn't the Quad, but Dual CPU, Not Dual Core, & uses the plain 970, not the 970fx.
As well, Leopard/10.5.8 is the latest it can use/run. 🙂

I also have this computer with these specs: but no intel processor.

Number Of CPUs: 4
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB

Bus Speed: 1.25 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.7f1
Serial Number (system): YM5452G3R6W
Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-00145164DF22
Thanks for the reply, Tanmara
What exactly do you want to ask?
OK, yes, that one uses the 970fx chips, but is still limited to 10.5.8 of course. 🙂
Thank you for your replies...GOD bless you
😀
These are the specs: wouldn't this say intel if it were intel or is there another way to look what the processor is?
Model Name: Power Mac G5 Quad

Processor Name: PowerPC G5 (1.1)
Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 4
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 5 GB
Bus Speed: 1.25 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.7f1
Serial Number (system): YM5452G3R6W
Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-00145164DF22

Yes it would say Intel as in...
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB

But no G5s are Intel, they're all IBM/PPC CPUs. 🙂
Thanks again, the G5 Quad is a lot of power. I will use it till it quits.
Blessings to you,
I was just wondering if I could move to Snow Leopard and the answer is NO.
