I am having the same issues. My ipad 1 will no longer update apps or download music. The apps always say waiting and the purchased music doesn't down load to iPad. I have tried signing out out my apple account, then powering off iPad, then doing a restart of the iPad. That didn't work. I have tried restarting iTunes, but that doesn't help. The music I buy ends up on iTunes and I can get it to my other apple devices..except my iPad. Does anyone have any other ideas how to fix this.

However, I did go into iTunes on my computer, and manually updated all my apps. I then plugged in my ipad and synced the ipad with iTunes and all the new updated apps. I can also download apps via my computer with itunes or my itouch or my iphone, update those apps and transfer then to theiPad. This gets me around the problem. But it doesn't solve the problem.

After all that I have read, I believe this is an apple 5.0.1 problem that the "mega-geniuses"either over looked or just figured it would work itself out as things played out.

I am having similar problems - I recently upgraded ipad, macbook and iTunes to the latest versions, but now when I go to update apps, they all get stuck waiting. In frustration, I've tried to restore the ipad from iTunes, but then it requries download of the latest iOS, which it doesn't really need - but internet lines in my country are so bad it just never finishes.

I think this is a new system problem so Apple had better figure it out soon!! Any solutions found by anyone in the last couple of months?

On the side, the latest OSX on a 1.5 year old MacBook Pro is just about the worst and slowest OS I've ever used, even worse than Windows ... AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH

Once something gets stuck in the download queue, nothing else will load until that stuck item gets cleared. Think of it as a blocked pipe, and this isnt new, has been happening since day 1. The trick is to unstick the one thing that is stuck. The quickest and most reliable way for me is to log on the computer, check for downloads, and get it cleared. Once you get the stuck one cleared, the rest will come down to the pad just fine.

An interrupted download seems to be the main culprit, but it could be any number of items.

Don't get frustrated ( at least too much). But once you see one stuck, don't expect anything else to work until it clears.

Note, if you are updateing a bunch at once, some of them will say waiting until it is their turn, that is a different thing, is normal, and will go away by itself.

Hi pjl123 - dead right - thanks so much!! I had tried deleting all the waiting apps before but apparently with no success, as they still waited after syncing, but perhaps I hadn't cleared them all. Now we're back to happy ipad-ing (though needing to restore all the info that was in those apps to begin with - but that's doable). Many thanks!!!

I'm not sure if this will help, but I was having the same problem with my iPhone 4S. All of a sudden any apps I tried to download got stuck in waiting and eventually it would time out and say I couldn't connect to the iTunes store. I did some googling and the thing that helped me was to go into iTunes and click sign out. Then sign in again. Worked like a charm. My apps are downloading without a problem now.

I'm having a similar problem updating apps and downloading new apps on my iPad. The difference is it starts and then I get a pop up message saying "unknown error". I've tried shutting off and restarting iPad, I even tried holding down sleep and start button simultaneously until apple icon appeared then restarted iPad and it didn't fix the problem. Any one else encountered this problem? Any suggestions on how I can fix it?

Try this.

Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.

Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again.

I did what you said and it turns out there was an problem with my billing information when I tried to sign back in so I re-entered info and it keeps saying my security code is invalid, so for now I can't move forward. This is really crazy because my other apple I'd on my iphone uses the exact same billing info and Im not having this problem with my iPhone.

Many times when you see that security code error, it is because the address that you have entered in the iTunes account does not match the address exactly on your credit card billing statement. I know that sounds weird, but I have seen it reported by other users.

Double check the information in iTunes and make sure that the information is identical to the information on your CC statement. If the credit cards lists your address as "street" and in iTunes you entered "St." that can messs things up - according to reports that I have read.
