erase and restoreing macbook pro

I have a MacBook Pro, when i got it it had snowlepord, but i upgraded to lion. Anyway, when i start my mac up, it will stop and just three consicutive beep's. I have seen the other communities address this problem, What i am wondering is, if i reinstal Lion through lion recovery, will all my files get deleted.

Installing Lion on top of your existing install should not erase any of your personal files. (I say "should" because there are never any guarantees. You've gotta have backups!)

However, I believe that three beeps at startup is an indication of hardware issues:
