Feb 24, 2012 4:15 AM in response to ccossios1by Matt Clifton,If your TV has an HDMI input, you need a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor and then a plain HDMI cable. The MBP will export video and audio over HDMI.
If your TV only has composite video, or VGA, you will need an adaptor for one of those inputs, and you will also need to send your audio over a separate cable from your headphone socket,

Feb 24, 2012 4:20 AM in response to Matt Cliftonby ccossios1,Hi Matt,
I have the HDMI cable and was thinking of buying this
Mini Displayport Male and USB Male Audio to HDMI Female Converting Adapter for Macbook - mpi
from Amazon....will this one work? I read the HDMI adapter alone will only transmit video and not audio but that this one with the USB should take care of the audio.
thoughts?

Feb 24, 2012 4:23 AM in response to ccossios1by Matt Clifton,★HelpfulNo, as I said, your 2011 MBP will transmit both audio and video over HDMI. That cable would be useful for older models where this was not the case.
