Well....let us not jump the gun on this.  Pardon my cynicism ...but Apple has dropped the ball midstream on more than one occasion in the past.  Like I said, I'll wait a day or three before I believe it.

    4.  Personal observation: I think Apple could find a way to acknowledge the existence of significant issues...The comments in this thread were [except for the Angry Bird component...and problems like this can bring out the Angry Bird in all of us...] thoughtful and helpful.  Many participants seem to be shareholders and long-time Apple customers.  Also 10,000 people accessed this thread and there are several other threads on the same topic.  I will probably still follow up on this issue even though this particular problem appears to have been solved.

    5. Simon: my wife and I may visit NC and we can trade beers.  You are the one who noticed first, I think, the scope of the problem since EVERY remote triggered the issue.  I will contact you outside this forum re other audio issues.

    Reference #4 ---

I agree with you.  The classic Apple silence is more detrimental than helpful.  It leaves everyone in the dark and, in fact, tends to be somewhat insulting in general. It would be one thing were it an issue that was dealt with (as this one SHOULD have been) in a matter of 24-48 hours.  However, all of this went on for a month or more without even so much as any acknowledgement that they even knew about it.

If Apple thinks so little of its' user base (not to mention their shareholders) as to treat them in this fashion, then just how monumental can the narcicism be that says to itself 'Hey, we don't have to care...they'll buy our stuff (and our stock offerings) anyway, no matter how badly we treat them'.

One might also reiterate the outstanding stupidity and lack of foresight that would cause them to code iTunes in such a way as to interact with Remote-type apps in the manner that it does.  As I've said before, even the local Village Idiot could have forseen the foolishness in writing an app in such a way that one minor error could (and did) bring the whole system to its knees for a significant segment of the user base.

Above all else, I think both of these issues are in dire need of change.

ps -  one interesting thing , at least here on my end, is that I never actually get the error message.  It just keeps waiting for the remainder of the dump...even though it is clearly never coming.  AND, it seems to hang at different spots on different machines.  On my Audio Sever it hangs at Adult Contemporary. On my desktop it hangs at Blues.

    Well....it is now working somewhat.

Clearly, they have already changed something since the "fix".  When they first 'fixed' it last week the iRadio inventory dump took roughly eight seconds to compleat.  Now...although it does seem to be getting through the dump again....it takes WELL OVER a minute to do so.

    Reallocation of resources?

    New troubles?

....or just Apple dropping the ball now that the pressure on them to fix it has waned?

    I don't know.

What I do know is that this would not be the first time Apple has made efforts to remedy a problem and then lost interest before finishing the job.

Perhaps I was a little too quick to adopt Apple technology in terms of a Media Server System.  For now it seems obvious that their interest in entering that arena is more dilettante than serious.  'Me too' does not get the job done.

    Pity!

All the genres have streams again but who can trust them. I will leave it open tonight and has has been suggested I will may playlists for all the genres. I had copied my usual stations into a playlist but anyone who listens to radio all the times does not want to be limited when the world exists and itumes radio has always been wonderful. It would be nice if it were dependable again.

Still having problems. Some genres work, others (like the ones I really want) still hanging indefinitely. Is there any remedial action being taken at all?

Still no radio stations available whatsoever.

    *sighs*

Wonder if location affects the problem?

    Running iTunes 10.6 on iMac 3.1 Intel Core i5, OS X 10.7.3.

Checked up on my radio tuner and here's my personal update...

I'm finally getting streams except for 'Electronica' which is the main category I listen to!

    How's that for irony?
