no credit card associated Apple id

i want to use my apple id in mac app store without associating my credit card. i read it somewhere that i could buy free apps with non-credit card associated id's. but when i tried, it kept asking me to enter credit card number. so can i use app store without credit card?

Talking to Apple really feels like slamming your head against a brick wall sometimes.

We've all seen that support topic. It tells us to click the "none" button. The only problem, as stated in the text of my post and illustrated in the screeshot, is that the "none" option IS NOT THERE.

I appreciate you trying to help, and I'm glad you aren't just telling us we're all liars like the guy on the other thread, but please could you try to understand the problem we are having and try to address it? The problem is that the link stated only talks about creating a new ID. if we try to download a free app using an existing ID there is (for at least some of us) no "none" option.

1. Apple is not here. This is a user to user forum. The folks who respond to questions here are users of Apple products.

2. My comment was not directed to you, it was directed to ADHMaury2009, who appears to be still in the process of creating an iTunes account and who may be able to use the information in the KB article.

3. This is not your thread, you did not even start the thread. You do not get to dictate the assistance that other users offer to folks here in the ASC. So stop acting the fool.

I don't know why the "NONE" option is not available, but according to Apple Support there is no way to make it available for an existing id, your only option is to create a new id, or hand over your credit card details.
