10.5.8 to 10.6 and then Lion

I am working with a white MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB running 10.5.8 I have Snow Leopard disk here with me, perfect condition and it is telling me that it can not be installed on that system. As far as I know, it should be. I need a solution please.

You need to use a retail DVD and not one which shipped with a Mac.
