Monitoring on iPhone using an Apogee MiC

I have recently purchased the Apogee MiC USB micorphone. When I try recording on my iPhone using garageband and turn on the monitor the input defers to my apple in-ear headphone's mic instead of the USB mic.

So how do you use headphones to monitor the audio without overriding the Apogee MiC input? (Will I need to use headphones with no audio input? Nice for portability to be able to use my apple in-ears rather than carrying another set of cans.)

Without headphone monitoring, of course, it is impossible to multi-track.

I had a similar situation but with Apogee's Jam interface. Their tech support asked me to have Garageband completely off, restart the iPad, connect your headphones and then the device. Wait for the blue light, then open Garageband. It worked for me, but kept happening because I had the latest Garageband, but not iOS 5. After I upgraded to 5, all those issues disappeared.

Hopefully that will work for you, if not, your best bet is to talk to Apogee's Tech Support, they are very diligent with their responses. http://www.apogeedigital.com/company/support.php
