I have got a iphone 3gs myself which is on the latest update but I have tried to do my girlfriends which we have only gotten unlock from the telstra network in Australia and it tells me that the 4.2.1 version is current version. This phone hasnt been jailbroken therefore im at a lost for why i cant update it. Anyone that cant shed light on this would be great.

I've already done that on my phone to try get it to work over on other phone but nothing.
Is the device actually a 3GS? iOS4.2.1 is the current/latest version for the 3G.
That could be it, the only thing on the back of the iphone is the size which is 8gb but i'd say thats what the problem is. Cheers lads
