Q: My Mac 10.5.8 takes a long time to boot showing a lengthy duration of a grey screen and then a light blue screen. when the machine is placed into sleep mode there is a noisy sound which is like the fan off balance ! Then the PC does not respond.

My Mac 10.5.8 takes a long time to boot showing a lengthy duration of a grey screen and then the same for a light blue screen.

When the machine is placed into sleep mode there is a noisy sound which is like the fan off balance !

Then the PC does not respond and I have to force shutdown.

Hello Feejo,

Yikes, sounds like maybe the Hard Drive is dying, be sure to backup your data as soon as possible.

Which of the iMacs is it? G3, G4, G5, Intel ?
