I need to replace the original charger that came with my late 2008 13" macbook.  I understand that there is a new design, but after reading the reviews (857 of them; mostly negative)  I am at a quandary.  I cannot go without a charger, but $80.00 for something that possibly will only be servicable for a few months is worrying me.  Is this a case of only 800 bad ones out there, out of many thousands sold, or are they really that bad?  If they are, what has Apple done to address this problem?  I cannot put this purchase off any longer, but if it is still a problem, perhaps it is time to cut my losses and go back to PC.
