Q: can you change the background color after placing your text

I have already place my text on each page of the book and I would like to change the color from just plain white look to some other color as a background. I need a little help with this...Thanks...

Easily done. You can do it page by page or add a color background in the master layouts.

How? Go to the help menu and type in Create or modify a layout.  - Fabe

One other color or different as you go?

Sorry I did not ask you about this before now I am doing 130 pages one at a time, since I had already made up the texxt & photo's..You were a great help! Hopefully my Italian Cookbook of family recipes will be uploaded to the ibooks stores soon.

    Jo,

I do not want to throw a monkey wrench into your stew pot, but I think you would reach a wider audience by creating your cookbook in another epub program and uploading it to different retailers (by that I mean Amazon and Barnes & Noble). iBooks Author limits your distribution options.

Of couse, if you are going to export your work as a PDF, then that's a different story.

All the best. Ciao!   - Giovanni

P.S. My Tomato Soup recipe is the first in my "Single Poor Man's Cook (or not) Book" I just came up with it today.

    Ciao Giovanni or Fabe,

I have been doing all of this work in ibooks author, typing and adding pictures, etc. it would be a real job to do this whole thing over again, in sme other pub...perhaps when I have the courage to start all over again, I will publish it on the other's like you mentioned...You have been a great help. Grazie, Jo

I need a little help: Each recipe that I type, it is making a second page blank, how would I stop this from happening?

Second: Now that I have typed my Recipe Book in ibooks Author, can I allso save all of my work for another way to sell my book, would hate to have to type this whole book over again. Thanks for your help..the colored pages are working out beautfiully.

Without looking over your shoulder, I assume you are using a template page that does just as you say, moves a blank page forward. However, it sounds like you are done inputting recipes, so if blank pages exist, just right-click on the pages in the sidebar and delete them. If I'm not getting what you are saying, let me know.

You can export your work as Text (File menu >> Export ...) This will make it all generic, but keep your text for future use. There is a second point here you must contemplate, creating a book in iBooks Author and uploading it to the Apple iBookstore, make it exclusively for sale through that channel only. Do you want to sell on Amazon?

Publish a screen shot from one of your beautiful pages. We'd all like to see.

First of all thanks a milion for your help...I would also like to sell it on Amazon, from what I understand, it is possible for me to sell on iBookstore and other's, since they do not own my text! Is this correct or am I mistaken? This is my first time to try and accomplish something like this and above all I have never used the software, which I must say is very nice..I am not completely finished yet, working hard to get it done and over with...Did you want me to put th recipe on this site? Would love to show you one of the recpe's...

Originally I made my book through a Sony Software, but of course not compatible with anything else! So I had to re-type the entire book in ibooks author..I will try and save the text for future use, hopefully it will workout!

    Ciao,

    Jo

    1. You are welcome a million and one.

    2. Click the OVERVIEW tab on the main page here and Read the Publishing & Distribution FAQs listed, especially #2.

    3. Yes! show a recipie. You can take a quick picture of a page by using Shift-Command-4. Make a reply and click on the camera icon to attach the new pic.

    4. I dread typing anything, let alone doing it twice. Currently I am hiring transcriptionists in my village to type a complete book for me.

    Ciao

Your content is under your control, so yes you can sell it via multiple channels, such as Amazon.

You may know this already, so sorry to repeat in that case, but if you use iBA to author, the only 'store' is iTunes, as that is the only 'outlet' that supports .ibooks format.

In other examples, you can use your content in Pages, perhaps tweaked in calibre and then distribute that e-pub output across iTunes, Amazon, etc.

    Good luck in all cases
