Port Forwarding on Netgear DG814 / OSX 10.3.9

I have the DG814 set up on 192.168.0.1, I want to set up my server (Mac OS X 10.3.9) with a static IP (192.168.0.10) and forward ports for afp access, http etc to the server.

When I go into the network preferences on the server and set the configure IPv4 to 'using DHCP' option I get a dynamic IP from the router and have internet access but no forwarding, if I set the configure IPv4 to 'Manually' and enter 192.168.0.10 I no longer have internet access.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Ben

The server needs to have a static IP so the netgear can be configured to forward the required traffic to that IP.

In server Network Prefs, add the router IP into the "Router" and "DNS Server" fields. This tells the server to send any traffic not on its own local network to the routers IP. It also tells the server to use the router's DNS to resolve any web site URL to the required IP address of the web site.

Hi Ben,

Sounds like you need to start reading some documentation 😉

Netgear have some decent manuals on their website. Start here for info on ports used by the server...

The search facility on the Apple Server support site is useful...

You may have one of these books already...
