My daughter locked her itouch and can't remember the password. this occurred after taking new pictures on vacation and before she got a chance to sync with her computer. How can we get the new pictures off before restoring?

You don't need the password to do a sync. I don't take pics with my Touch but I believe that a sync will copy the photos to the computer. It certainly won't hurt to try.
Thanks but we tried that and it won't sync because it's locked. The message says to unlock itouch 1st then sync again.
Oh, she locked it by trying the wrong password too many times, Hmmm... I don't think that there is any solution now.
well it eventually unlocks so you can try a password again, we just don't know it.
I tried to put it into disk mode so I could read it as a drive on my computer but the new itouch doesn't have that feature.
You will have to restore.

If the pictures are important to you, you can buy a third party transfer program that will be able to export your photos, music, contacts from the iPod. Do a Google search on iPod transfer. I know that these programs work on locked iPods,. I assume that they work on disabled ones as well.

You're suggesting that there are third-party apps that can totally defeat the very reason for password protection? Naah!
If it works on locked iPods it would work on a disabeled one as well
but as bobjibkln said "If the pictures are important to you" if there not it is probably a waste of time

I certainly am. There are lots of them. As I said, just Google. The one I have is Aiseesoft iPhone Transfer Platinum which I got free from Giveaway of the Day. But there are lots out there. Here's the image of what is available using that app on my locked iPod:

thanks for the help. I downloaded copy transmanager but when I connected my ipod it said
"failed to establish connection with itouch. if the autolock feature is activated please be sure to unlock"

copy transmanager is an iTunes replacement. You need a program like Aiseesoft iPhone Transfer Platinum or IPhonePCTransfer or Touchcopy or any other one designated to export music and photos. Please look at these before you say that it doesn't work.

bob, it says the same thing. unlock itouch since it can't "find" it locked.
He tried with touchCopy and it did not work. It seems it does not work on disabled iPods.

I had to sync on the original computer the ipod was connected to !!!! duh, my bad. 😊
anyways.......still locked.......it is getting the pictures off of the ipod onto the pc. I had to buy the full version to download/copy the pics for $ 24.95 but it's worth it. the free version lets you view but not copy.
