Feb 26, 2012 12:17 AM in response to jappslapby shldr2thewheel,The drive accepts discs but they do not mount or are automatically ejected
- Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
- Reset the Power Manager (PMU) or System Management Controller (SMC).

Feb 26, 2012 12:43 AM in response to shldr2thewheelby jappslap,The discs are new licensed versions so are in good condition. I have tried the resetting the SMC and this made no difeerence.
I have read on another forum that others have had this same issue after a security update, is this a possible reason? They did not manage to rectify the problem.

Feb 26, 2012 1:16 AM in response to jappslapby Silly rabbit,The internal drives on iMacs are finicky, which is why I use an external LaCie drive (irrelevant). I've found that running a store-bought video DVD can kick the drive into gear to get it to recognize other DVDs. Put a video DVD in the drive, run it for ten to fifteen minutes and then, see if it will accept your MS Office disc after it has been run for a while. In my opinion, it relates to them not being used so often. Not proven, but just my experience. Give it a go! And, make sure the disc is as clean as possible.
