Can‘t create a Windows Seven USB drive using Bootcamp

Hi! I ve been trying to create a Windows Seven bootable USB drive using the Bootcamp Assistant. I tried to create it using an ISO of my Windows DVD in order to install it on my new Mac Mini. My problem is that I get an error: Your bootable USB drive could not be created, an error occurred while copying the windows installation files. My USB drive is 8G, and I‘ve tried with a 100G external HDD too... So it‘s not a size problem. I also tried to format the drive different ways without any success... I found lots of threads relating to this problem but none of them had a solution. Any clues? Thanks in advance!

I would suspect a problem with the ISO file. What software did you use to make it?

I had this problem i tried to use my windows disk in the end i had to download it as a torrent from the pirate bay and then use my serial

I used Disk Utilities to create the Iso, because I cant use any external dvd during Bootcamp install.

I know, thats what I tried to do, but in the middle of transferring the data of the Iso to the USB disk, the error happened.

Did you get this fixed Kempfu? I'm having the same problem as we speak! Tried multiple USBs, even did a checksum of the Windows 7 ISO.

Yes, the trick is to find the right USB drive! I bought and tried several... Cost me a bit of time and money, but finally a 4G usb drive did the trick (Sony Micro Vault Tiny 4 GB). Once you find your USB drive the error will simply disappear. I don't know exactly why some usb drives work and some don't.... Seems bizarre.

Gross...after trying out 3 drives a few times, I gave up. I was migrating my Windows install from another Windows partition, so I just decided to install Windows from scratch on the new partition. I did this by mounting the Windows.iso in the current copy of Windows, and running install from there. And it worked fine.

I was replacing my Optical Drive with an SSD. The optical drive was broken either way.

The problems solved now, either way. I just had to do a fresh install of windows.

Probably the windows iso file is in use. Make sure you have ejected the drive completely. Also ensure you right click the iso image in disk utility and click remove. This worked for me!

Something else that you should know. Boot camp will only accept usb drives in a certain format. NTFS will not work with boot camp (I tried myself). If you go into disk utility and reformat the drive to MS-DOS (FAT) or (FAT-32) you will be able to use it with bootcamp. Or if you do the Mac Jounaled Format, however for that format you need to install something on a pc to have a pc be able to read the drive.

I've been trying with a lot of usb key and the one that works perfectly is the cheapest one you can get in a dollar store . I tried Wd, sandisk, lexar and none of them works.
