You said you know "because you were playing around with it before you bought one". You also say, "I'm not stupid - I no (sic) the difference" between an iMac and an iPad...

Then WHY did you post your first query in the first place???

One minute you're at BestBuy 'playing around with' a 'touchscreen iMac' (sorry, there isn't - you had to have been looking at an iPad), 'before you bought one'; the next, you're at home, wanting to know how to enable touchscreen capability on your iMac...

You HAD to know that the touchscreen Apple product you were handling at BestBuy was a touchscreen because IT HAD BEEN BUILT AS SUCH: it was never just an 'app' or 'upgrade' that caused it to be 'that way'!

So why ask such a question ("How do you enable Touch on the iMac?")???

(shaking my head, still baffled)

The WHOLE TECHNOLOGY of 'touchscreen' requires an entirely different 'display' mechanism (than that of a regular display/screen, on ANY MacBook, iMac, etc.). And if you 'no' anything about Macs (or computers in general), you'd ALREADY know and understand the concept that this is not a simple matter of 'enabling' something.

A product that was touchscreen-capable would function that way as a default setting; why on Earth would a company build touchscreen in only to have it 'dormant' and waiting to be 'enabled'?

People never cease to amaze me... :-)

Yeah, but no one has answered his 'question'. How does he get touchscreen on his imac ? Ill tell you my friend, he gets it by asking for it, (which Is kinda what he's trying to do here). I wish I had touchscreen on my Imac, because I use software that would be really enhanced by it, it lends itself extremely well to graphics and music software. And (all the snobbish comments above aside), windows 8 really HAS jumped ahead, and I must reassure you I am an apple user. So, lets be more positive here and stop trying to make a man look stupid when actually its a perfectly reasonable request....iphones, ipads, imacs, they all look very much the same now physically, and so you can expect for someone off the street to imagine/hope that the 'interface' would also be the same wouldnt you ? So, Im with you dude, Id like to know how to do it too 🙂
