    That will be difficult, Aperture is not designed to work as a network database, sorry; see this support article:

     

    Aperture: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3252

     

    The best you can do, is to take a copy of your library with you on the road. Youmay wish to to export your current projects as a library and copy that libraryto your MacBook air, and merge the two libraries when you return.

    It is relativly easy. I have the same setup - iMac + MBA13".
    I use referenced master on my iMac. When tavelling I copy the Aperture Libray to my MBA + my photos for the last 6 month (they are organized in Folders like: 2012-subfolders).

    They only thing you might need to do on your MBA is to re-connect the pictures.
