mixing

I am currently in the mixing phase of an album project and am using GarageBand 11. My problem is that I know how to create music, but haven't a clue as to how to mix the music. I also have ProTools MP9, but all of this is useless without the understanding of termonology or the process of editing and mixing. Is there anyone who can help me to understand the mixing process step by step using GarageBand 11? Thank You
