Yes you can install Windows 7 on a Mac either using Boot Camp or in a Virtual Machine.

But I must say that if most of your work is done in a Windows environment, you mostly use Windows programs, you'd be better off just buying a Windows Notebook.

Less expensive and just as good. And you wouldn't need to buy a version of Win 7 to install on it. It will come with Win 7.

What version of AutoCad are you using? The reason I ask is because if it's a slightly older version it may run fine on XP which can be easily loaded into a virtual machine and run on top of OS X.

You can also do that with Win 7 but you need a good amount of RAM as both Lion & 7 use a lot of it.

But if your set on Boot Camp and dual booting then use Boot camp Assistant found in the Utilities folder in Applications. You can go to the Apple website, Support and get the user guide for boot camp and once you start the BC assistant it will download Windows Support software, Drivers, and a copy of the user guide is included.

If you have any real problems using BC your best place to post is in the Apple Boot Camp forum.

NOTE:

Once you use Boot Camp and install Win 7 you can not partition your hard drive any further, easily, or one or the other or both OSs won't boot anymore. So make sure you allocate enough space for both OSs.

Make sure you backup regularly.

Good Luck and best wishes

You do not need Boot Camp for AutoCad anymore. That hasn't been necessary for awhile actually. Here's the link to Autocad for the Mac:

Ask them if there is a crossgrade option if all you have is a Windows copy. Many companies offer the ability to buy a Mac version at discount if you have a Windows version of their product.

Correct but if the OPs company or him personally has the ACAD Windows version Autodesk may not do cross platform switching. In that case they, company or OP personally, would need to Re-Purchase ACad for the Mac. Which is NOT cheap.

Only Autodesk can answer that question about platform switching.

can i Use both Operating systems without any restart !😕

No you can not. Boot Camp is a Dual Boot system. Installing Windows on a separate Partition of the hard drive.

You either run OS X or Windows but not both at the same time.

With VM software you can migrate a boot camp partition into a virtual machine but I have never done that and in the end, as far as I know, doing that is just like installing Windows into the VM to begin with.
