Changing the name of my podcast

So I am making some changed to my podcast and need to change the name to reflect that. I am hoping that I will not have to lose all my subscribers. I have changed the name and all the info in the .xml file and it will still be linked to the same feedburner url....but iTunes search still has it under the old name. Is there a way to change it with iTunes??

thanks

There is nothing you can change in iTunes itself. When you change the contents of the 'title' tag the change should appear immediately for subscribers but the iTunes Store may not change until you post a new episode, and certainly will take a couple of days.

The search process appears to involve some caching so it may take a bit of time to catch up with the change.

You appear to have made sure that changing the title doesn't change the URL - this is important as if you change the URL iTunes will lose track of your podcast.

I also have another problem which has been around for some time. My podcast is on itunes twice and I would like to get rid of one.

Good one = http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-balance-podcast/id464589031

Bad one = http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-balance-podcast/id463955366

I have contacted itunes but they will not dlete it. Is there some way?

Sorry for double post but just thought of it.

Thanks again

I am a bit confused because I did upload a new episode but when I refreshed in itunes it did nothing, even though it is showing on itunes. It is asking me to subscribe again so I guess that means all my listeners would also have to subscribe again?

If you have added an episode to an existing feed then subscribers should download it automatically.

itunes did delete with my duplication problem . that helped thanks.

I still have a problem with the name - change.

http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-balance-podcast/id464589031 is my podcast. It was previously called "The Balance" and you can see that still in the URL. I have chaned everything in the XML file but still when I download it in iTunes it is still called "The Balance". I would like it to show as "Experience" in itunes as it is now called...

You will find that all these URLs work:

http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/id464589031

http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/experience/id464589031

http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/fred_bloggs/id464589031

in other words it doesn't matter what you put in the URL between the penultimate and last slashes; and if you get the URL from the Store page you get

http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/experience/id464589031

whhichever variant of the URL you use.

AH! very cool thanks Roger...that leaves me with the last little problem and then I will be clean!

User uploaded file

this is a screen shot of podcasts section of itunes. When I download "Experience" podcast it still shows as "The Balance"...and funny thing is as it is downloading it shows as "Experience" but once the file completes download it then goes in with "The Balance"

It seems to be OK on iTunes on my Mac - your screenshot looks like an iPhone - is that right? I don't have one to check on. For reference, the feed is at

http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheBalancePodcast

and seems to be OK though the URLs still have the 'BalancePodcast' name: you can't change the feed URL but you could change the URLs of your mp3 files and change the original feed to match,. though I don't know whether that is the cause of the issue.

No Roger, that was a screenshot of itunes on my computer. It did not do have the title "The Balance" on my gf's computer so maybe that has been solved.

Yet another problem I found....I am in Canada, so I am sure I posted to the Canada itunes store but itunes emailed me back saying that it is live here....

http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/experience/id464589031 (The U.S. Store)

in adition to

http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/id464589031 (The Canada Store)

How would I have done this?? I am just trying to make it so I just have 1 podcast (The Canada Store) so I can monitor what is going on with it...

Thanks again...
