Feb 28, 2012 12:04 PM in response to Steve Zavodnyby Tesserax,Is your goal to use the AirPort Express to share an Internet connection or just to create a local wireless network?

Feb 28, 2012 12:42 PM in response to Tesseraxby Steve Zavodny,We use the Extreme for the internet, working properly.
The express for local, but not getting any recognition
for the express. Do we have to set up the Express using
a hard wire? I was also told to set up the express FIRST.

Feb 28, 2012 3:54 PM in response to Steve Zavodnyby Tesserax,★HelpfulI just want to be sure I understand. If your goal is to create a stand alone local network with the Express, then you would need to switch wireless networks between the Extreme for Internet access and the Express when you wish to access the local wireless network. Is what you really want?
Otherwise, if you are interested in extending the wireless range of the Extreme with the Express, then please take a look at this Apple Support article for the details on how to do so. -
Feb 28, 2012 6:37 PM in response to Tesseraxby Steve Zavodny, yes helpful thank you.
so from the hard wired base computer, airport utility 5.6 shows the airport extreme base station and it's green light, and it shows the airport express station which is the extended, and it's green light. From airport utility 6, we do not see the airport express green light.
On the wireless connected macBook, we see the same as above.
Do we care if utility 6 does not see the green light?

Feb 28, 2012 6:41 PM in response to Steve Zavodnyby Tesserax,I wouldn't be concerned about not seeing a green light in version 6 of the AirPort Utility. As long as the extended network is performing properly, you can safely ignore it.
