how do i remove my credit card

all i am trying to do is remove or delete (whatever you want to call it) my credit card from the account. I can not do this it keeps telling me that I have to enter information. I do not want any type of information entered here. surely there has to be an option to remove credit card info. I don't think I should have to have this information on here.

How are you doing it? I add my credit card info all the time for big purchases and remove it managing my iTunes account with gift cards regularly. It may not allow you to remove it if a purchase is pending.

It can be removed a few ways. Go to iTunes Store home page (logged in) and click the "Account" link in the right menu. Click the edit button beside Payment Information then select the "None" button beside the credit card buttons and you card number will be removed.

Remember this is also linked to other stores such as the Mac App Store and the Apple Online Store. If you make a purchase on these stores using the same Apple ID you will need to remove your card number again.

If that doesn't work, open iTunes on your computer, click on store. when that opens, click on your apple id, for me my e-mail address, in the top right corner under the search bar. Then select edit payment type. When I was using the website i did not see an option for no credit card, but when I used iTunes it worked.

Hope this helps.

They may be separate but there is some integration between them, at least through the Canadian stores. I prefer to manage my iTunes and Mac App Store accounts with gift cards. If I enter my credit card into the Apple Store account when ordering computers or other accessories it shows up in the iTunes Store account till I remove it. I usually go to the iTunes Store Payment section selecting "None" once the transactions are completed which removes the number from both sites. You can also simply remove the numbers from the Apple Online Store to achieve the same thing.

I am very well aware of the fact these are separate stores and the Mac App and iTunes Stores can not be accessed by a web site. All these stores do use the same account information which does sync between the stores if you are using the same Apple ID. I have had my credit card info sync between them and removed it by one of the other stores many times.

To confirm this just in case they changed it again, I just entered my Visa number into my account information on the Canadian Apple Online Store (through a web browser). When I checked the Mac App Store and iTunes Store (through their apps) the credit card number now appears there where it was not entered before. I then set my payment method to "None" in the Mac App Store account settings, and lo and behold, it was removed from the settings in the iTunes Store as well as the payment settings of the Apple Online Store.

As long as you are using the same Apple ID the account settings sync between the stores no matter where you change it. As I said above, at least it does for me in the Canadian stores which may behave different in other countries. The Apple Online Store does not have the "None" button however deleting the number and saving is the same thing. Pending purchases may block the ability to delete the numbers, but it can be done.

It's worked like this for sometime for me. At least in the past 5 years. I can't say when I first seen this but I bought my MacBook Pro in early 2008 and an Apple TV shortly after through the online store. Other than a second Apple TV much later I have only had my credit card info entered a few times since, and since today it's probably been a year or 2 since I've had it entered in any of my accounts.

I would still say this behavior may differ from country to country. It may be the same store across the board but I would assume the store in each country is run by it's own software and it's own set of rules, even between the US and Canada.
