Livetype crashing

Ok, here we go , I just recently had a new hard drive installed in my iMac 7.1 and have been trying very unsuccessfully to return the system to some kind of normalcy, I decided to upgrade the iMac to Snow Leopard as that is the system that I have on my MacBookPro, now I'm having issues with Final Cut Suite(2) I have done a complete system reinstall three times now and still no success in getting the "Pro" apps to work. what am I doing wrong , all the discussions indicate that the apps should work in Snow Leopard. Everything else seems to work as they should, do I need to do a reinstall and not upgrade to 10.6?

This has been ongoing for about a month and a half and I'd really like to get down to work without the frustration of endlessly having to reinstall software.

the last go-round was the final cut icons on the dock became transparent with a question mark over it, livetype keeps crashing whe I open it and try to select a background color, I have not tried the others in the suite as Iam about ready to throw both of them out the window( iMac and Macbook) as they are both exhibitting the same problems. Ran hardware tests on both machines - both OK, as an aside both have new harddrives withinthe last two months.

one final question , do I reinstall from the 10.4 discs then the 10.5 disc and then the 10.6 disc or just the 10.6 disc that I just purchased from Apple ? the 10.5 disc needs to have 10.4 installed first as the 10.5 disc is an upgrade that came with the iMac purchase and the 10.6.3 says install disc and not drop-in dvd like 10.5 disc. 10.4 discs say install. I probably just answered my own question here but I'd rather have a solid second opinion. Thanks.
