I just purchased a 2012 Camry with Entune. Had no problem setting up Bluetooth with my IPhone 4s except for internet connection for use of apps.I received telephone help from Toyota to achieve an internet connection after several failed tries. I am of course using 3G and not WiFi, but to connect to and remain connected to the internet through the car's entune system, I must be tethered through a USB cord. I'm told that with a Blaclberry or Android all Bluetooth and internet setup is done without tethering and that only the Iphone requires a tether to initially set up internet access. no one told me that I would then have to tether each time I wanted to access the internet apps. Is this an IPhone 4s issue or a Toyota Entune issue?

Yes. In order to use the in car internet access with a smartphone, you only have to pair it up and then you are piggybacking your car's internet access through your phone's data plan. Apparently, only the Iphone requires both the initial internet connection setup and continued piggyback use be done by tethering instead of wirelessly or by Bluetooth.

From http://www.toyota.com/entune/what-is-entune/phones.html we read:

"Android™ and Blackberry® wirelessly connect your phone to the available Entune™-equipped Toyota using Bluetooth®. The iPhone® is connected via a USB data cable."

There's clearly something different about the iPhone's bluetooth capabilities than the other two phones. To say it's only Apple's or Toyota's problem isn't very helpful for anyone because, yes, Toyota should have designed Entune for full compatibility with iOS devices and, yes, Apple should have designed the iPhone to be at least as capable as the other phones wrt bluetooth.

I still don't know who to holler at.

I don't know that holliering is needed, but keetp in mind that Entune is a proprietary system of Toytota and they are the gatekeepers of the who and how access to it will be achieved.

It's much more than the traditional bluetooth pairing to make phone calls or play music.

In fact, if you have a Windows phone, you can forget about using it at all (at least for now).

iPhone works with Prius via Bluetooth for Phone and Music.

iPhone will not work for Entunes/Inernet connection except when plugged into the USB port. This is an Apple/ATT/Verizon shameless commerce deal. They disable the Bluetooth internet connection to get you to pay twice for your data usage. You have to purchase the Personal Hotspot Tethering (another $30 a month) in order for the iPhone to work via Bluetooth vs. the Prius USB port.

Not Toyota's fault.

Though Toyota has other issues. The Prius USB port is under powered and if you connect via a Mophie or CaseLogic battery case, you get "Warning Will Robinson" beeps and messages and the Prius shuts down the USB port. My Escape hybrid USB port had no issues.
